Heigh Ho, Heigh Ho

It's off to work I go..... I feel like that's all I do. :o(

I would much rather stay home and make pretty skirts and dresses. Take photographs. Explore the city. Write about things that inspire me. I want a creative job. Something that helps me better understand myself and be able to share that with the world. Maybe I'll have that eventually.

Now for the fun stuff.

I'm actually going to do two posts. So, try not to get too upset with me for taking up room on your dashboard! ;o)

I'll post my outfits for the past two days here, and share my first of Montreal experience with you in the next one. ;o)

Romper: Target
Cardigan: Charlotte Russe
Belt: Fashion Bug
Tights: Fashion Bug

Sorry that it's so blurry. :o\  I was a little shaky this morning...

A random customer gushed over my outfit today. :o) She was so sweet. It's nice to hear that I'm at least semi-successful at putting an outfit together.

Stay tuned for some funky of Montreal photos....

Things About Me Thursday

To be completely honest, I feel a little silly labeling a post "about me". I feel like I should show you who I am by what I post. It shows what I'm interested in, passionate about... Through my posts you'll hear about my life, my family, and my friends. So after a lot of debate (with myself), I'm definitely not going to do anymore "Things About Me Thursday". Haha... only two down, and I'm already tapping out. ;o)

Omg! My mother just sent me this picture:

She went to Alabama for a seminar for her job, and while she was down there, she said she got a tattoo! Ok...this is a big deal because she hates my tattoos. Ok, maybe not hate, but she definitely doesn't understand why I do it. She doesn't give me a hard time about them, but she definitely isn't thrilled with them either. That being said... I definitely didn't believe her when she showed me. #1: If she doesn't understand why I get them, why on earth would she get one? #2: This isn't really her style. If she's going to get something permanently marked on her, I don't think she would pick this. Not the cross... The cross is fine. But the style of the cross?..... I'm a little iffy on that. I mean, I could be wrong, but I know my mom pretty well. Turns's henna. Which honestly didn't cross my mind. I knew it was fake, but it didn't look like a stick on. Most of those are more of a "flash" design. This looked more organic, which threw me at first.

I was definitely flipping out there for a minute though. She fooled me, but only for a minute!

(Oh, and before I forget... I was misinformed on where my nickname originated. My mother actually gave me the nickname "boo bear". I thought it was my uncle because he wrote it on the back of his basketball tennis shoes. :o)  Sorry mom! I'm giving credit where credit is due. ;o) Love you!)

Anyway. I'm exhausted from working all day, so I'm off to bed.

Outfit Post: B&W Casual

I did NOT want to get out of bed this morning! I was sooooo tired. Good thing I have tomorrow off. I've decided that I'm sleeping in until 2pm. Haha! Turning my phone off and everything. ;o)

I think my outfit today reflected how I felt this morning. Tired. Didn't have very much... flair. Oh well, I'll do better next week.

Top: Charlotte Russe
Cardigan: TJMaxx
Belt: Fashion Bug
Jeans: Old Navy
Shoes: Old Navy

The cardigan actually has a crocheted back...kind of similar to the front of my top. Couldn't get a good picture though. :o\

Lookin' Fresh

As you may have noticed... I've been making changes to my blog here and there. Updating the look. Tweaking this. Moving that. So far, so good. In my opinion.

What do you guys think?

Also, does anyone know how to get the ugly gray background behind my tabs to go away? The tab options in the blogger editor won't let me get rid of it. I assume I'll have to do something in html or add css, but I don't even know where to start. Even tried Googling it, with no luck. So, if any of you know of anything that might help, please let me know! Email me @, or comment below.

So, I was driving home from work, when I noticed a carnival along the side of the road. Drove back later to check it out! Oh, btw...the pictures are linked to my picplz account, so you'll be able to view larger versions.

The road I take to get to work.

This one is my favorite.

Bumper cars!

Crazy slide!

So, I didn't really ride anything or play games. I just observed. Everyone was happy. There's just something about a bunch of neon lights and the summer air that makes carnivals so much fun. Such a pleasant evening. :o)

When was the last time you've been to a carnival?

Outfit Post: Double Up

Well...I got home too late last night to do an outfit post. :o\  So you get to see the past two days! Lucky you!

I'm going to admit. I haven't been shopping for clothing in a LONG time, so I've been finding it really difficult to put together an outfit because I feel like I've been looking at the exact same closet full of clothes for the past year. And honestly.... it sucks. But.... sometimes other things take precedence over new clothes. It's terrible, I know!

Anywho, this is what I wore yesterday.

Facial accessories. Fake eyelashes. ;o)

Top: Ebay
Vest: Old Navy
Belt: Fashion Bug
Jeans: Old Navy
Shoes: Amazon

And here is what I wore today. I actually had a purple cardigan on earlier, but it was too hot. So, I took it off.

Braided my hair today.  <3

Top: Old Navy
Belt: Thrifted
Skirt: ???
Tights: Fashion Bug
Shoes: Ross

Hope everyone had an awesome day today! I may write another post later. There are a few things I want to talk about. ;o)

Ten Things Tuesday: Dresses

Hello everyone! Welcome to the first "Ten Things Tuesday". In case you didn't happen to read my last post, I've started a blog schedule. If you want to know more about my schedule, just scroll down a bit. You'll find it. ;o)

So, I've decided to start a kind of "To be continued..." series. This Tuesday will be dresses. Next week will be shoes that go with each dress. Then, accessories. Sound good? I think so. As you can see, the photos are numbered, so the corresponding shoes/accessories will also be numbered to match the original dress post. Make sense? Alright, Let's get started!

This may sound odd, but I don't think I would love this dress as much if it didn't have that piping at the waist. Weird?
The print of this dress is what got me.
LOVE the colors!
Feeling kind of vintage to me. It's showing up as kind of purple on my screen, but it's listed as a dusty mauve color. <3
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this color, and I don't own anything even close to this. Trying to step out of my comfort zone.
I'm not super crazy about the actual style of the dress, so I would definitely belt it, but I couldn't resist this combination of patterns and colors.
Sparkly night out? Yes, please.
Classic navy dress. Loving the ruffles.
I seriously heart polka dots, and you can't go wrong with this color combo.
I've been in a love/hate tug of war since I saw this dress. Love the colors, love the piping. I think I'm just not in love with how it fits this model. I would probably put a belt around the waist to add some more definition.
All of the photos are linked to the website where you can purchase them, should you happen to love them as much as I do! ;o)  So, make sure you stay tuned for shoes next Tuesday.

Well, I'm off to work. Have an awesome day!

Guilty Pleasure

How have I spent the past few hours? Listening to Red House Painters on loop and looking through the ModCloth Style Exchange. ;o)

Btw... He drops the f-bomb at about 1:02. Sorry about that...

I've been in a very emotional state of mind today. That movie really hit me. I watched it again this afternoon. I've really been thinking about my life and how I've wasted so much time being unhappy. I'm going to do things I love and enjoy every minute of my day. I know it sounds cliche, but... who knows how much time I have left?

On a less philosophical note... I think I've come up with a sort of "schedule" for my blog.

My Body Monday: All about tattoos. Not necessarily just mine. Things that inspire me, too.
Ten Things Tuesday: Ten things I love/want/hope to achieve/etc...
Things About Me Thursday: This is a tentative one, and it may be changed after a short period of time.
Feeling Fine Friday: Also tentative. Pretty generalized.

I'll most likely throw in other posts here and there, and I may even miss scheduled posts every so often. However, I will try to stick to this format. I do work full time, so this might prove difficult on occasion. :o\

Anyway, I need to get to sleep. Work tomorrow. Night all!

High of 85 is HOT today! So, we decided to turn on the central air, but wait... The complex we live in runs the gas heat and central air from the same thermostat, and they decide when to turn off the boiler. Which means....not only is it really hot outside, it's also sweltering in our apartment. *sigh* Oh well. At least we have it.

Anywho. Wanted to do a quick outfit post today. Too hot for pants or a wig. ;o)

Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend. Have a great day today!

Such a Sweet Sadness

I finally watched Never Let Me Go. First of all, I had no idea this was based on the book. (Which I will be purchasing as soon as possible. Maybe I would have noticed had I taken a second look at the cover of the movie.) Secondly, what an achingly beautiful story. Were parts of the movie unnecessary, in my opinion? Yes, but I haven't read the book. Was it a very odd version of a "true love" story? Absolutely! Undoubtedly one of my new favorites.

One of the very few things I'm not thrilled about is the fact that I saw the movie before reading the book that it was based upon. I usually don't like experiencing things in this order. However, there have been a few exceptions to the rule. Hopefully, this is one of those instances.

The images in this movie were amazing. The landscapes... the architecture... the colors. I'm still in a heart-broken haze. I love when a story touches my soul and really makes me wonder. Makes me believe in something. I felt the pain. I felt the love. It was such an incredible journey.

PLEASE watch at least this one part of the interview with the director. (Tune in around 0:40.)

I hope you all choose to "look into the mirror", and I hope you enjoy this film as much as I did.

The Parable of the Lost Son

Luke 15:11-32

11 Jesus continued: “There was a man who had two sons. 12 The younger one said to his father, ‘Father, give me my share of the estate.’ So he divided his property between them.
13 “Not long after that, the younger son got together all he had, set off for a distant country and there squandered his wealth in wild living. 14 After he had spent everything, there was a severe famine in that whole country, and he began to be in need. 15 So he went and hired himself out to a citizen of that country, who sent him to his fields to feed pigs. 16 He longed to fill his stomach with the pods that the pigs were eating, but no one gave him anything.
17 “When he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! 18 I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. 19 I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired servants.’ 20 So he got up and went to his father.

When he came to his senses... So many times, we think we know best. We know what will make us happy. We know what is good or bad for our lives. We take control. Because if we're in control, at least we know what's going to happen. Which is usually the exact opposite in most cases. Something we think is good could be detrimental to us in the long run. And something we think is bad, turns out to be one of the best things that could ever happen to us.

But when we come to our senses, and return to our Father, he shows us the way.
“But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.

But while he was still a long way off....  The son didn't even have to time to explain to his father that he was sorry or confess to how awful he had acted. In reality, the father had no idea why the son was coming back. He could have been coming back to ask for more money. But the father didn't care. He RAN to his son, embraced him, and kissed him. (If we just turn in God's direction, he RUNS to us. "I'm coming for you!")
21 “The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’
22 “But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. 23 Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate. 24 For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ So they began to celebrate.

Notice what happened? The son hoped to be a servant in his father's house, and instead, he was given more love and gifts than he thought he deserved. And you know what, he's right. What did he deserve? He deserved to work for his meals after demanding his living and throwing it away on meaningless pleasures. Instead, because his father LOVED him so much... he was given gifts and a celebration. When we return to Jesus, we don't get a cold shoulder. We get a welcome embrace from a Father who RUNS to meet us.
25 “Meanwhile, the older son was in the field. When he came near the house, he heard music and dancing. 26 So he called one of the servants and asked him what was going on. 27 ‘Your brother has come,’ he replied, ‘and your father has killed the fattened calf because he has him back safe and sound.’
28 “The older brother became angry and refused to go in. So his father went out and pleaded with him. 29 But he answered his father, ‘Look! All these years I’ve been slaving for you and never disobeyed your orders. Yet you never gave me even a young goat so I could celebrate with my friends. 30 But when this son of yours who has squandered your property with prostitutes comes home, you kill the fattened calf for him!’
31 “‘My son,’ the father said, ‘you are always with me, and everything I have is yours. 32 But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’”

I feel like this is such an important part of the story. The older brother. He's done exactly what his father asked of him, but he never got a fattened calf for a celebration with his friends...he never even got a young goat. But look at what his father says. "You are always with me, and everything I have is yours." The older brother was trying to earn favor with his father, when in reality, he already had it! Everything his father owned was already his! He was trying to earn what he already possessed.

There is nothing in the world that you can do to make Jesus love you more than he already does. And guess what... There is nothing in the world that you can do to make Jesus stop loving you either. I wish more people could experience the love of Jesus. We get so wrapped up in religion and habit that we lose sight of what is most important: sharing the love of the Father with everyone we meet.

Thank you to Joyce Meyer for giving me a revelation in this area of my life.

What a Steal

So, as I was leaving work, I stopped by the clearance section because I still needed to use the gift certificates that I got earlier this week. I so glad I did! I found a super cute violet sundress. Clearance price? $3.49. But wait! It gets even better. It was marked as "damaged" because it's missing a strap. (Easily fixable since I'll have to take it in a size anyway.) Total price at the register? 97 cents. Yea! It is SO pretty. Couldn't get a good picture because the lighting is terrible in our apartment. So, I'll include pictures in a later post, where I'll probably also show how I fixed it.

Anyone else find any good thrift/clearance steals?

Things About Me Thursday

So, I've finally gotten around to doing a post about myself. First things first... Kiley Boo. What's that all about? Well. When I was little, my uncle Craig gave me the nickname "boo bear", which turned into "boo" as I grew up. Different variations emerged throughout my life, one of them being Kiley Boo. It reminds me of a simpler time and is very dear to my heart. I love my family.

Kittoo was a screen name that I made up a year or so ago. It's a combination of my name and tattoo. (Because I'm crazy about them!) Nothing special. Just cutesy! ;o)

Anywho...I'm 23 years old, and I married my husband, Toby, on February 27th, 2010. We just moved to Philadelphia in December of 2010, and I absolutely LOVE it here! (Yes...that's a picture of the Empire State Building behind us, which means this picture was taken in NYC, but I don't have a picture of us in Philadelphia yet!!! Maybe when the weather is a little warmer.) We have two beautiful little girls together...

We've had both of them since they were 7 weeks old. Sadie turned 3 in January, and Bella turned 2 in March. My how time flies!!

Let's see...I love thrift shopping, exploring new parts of the city, and tattoos. I'm really getting into make-up and frilly clothing. ;o) I used to be a "strictly jeans and t-shirts" kind of girl, so this is a big change for me. It's definitely fun though. I feel like I'm finally settling into who I am.

Anyway...I guess that's it for now. Don't want to give it all up on the first date, haha!

Fancy Family Room

I have REALLY enjoyed my days off this week. Didn't really do anything exciting, but it has definitely been a relaxing few days. I did manage to clean and organize almost the entire house. :o)  Spring cleaning is so awesome. Everything feels so put together.

While I was cleaning, I did some decorating, which got me in the mood to decorate my dream home. You know...the one in my mind. Haha! So here's the living/family room. Enjoy!

Not sure if there is a right or wrong way to do it, but I always plan living rooms around the sofa. I want a light-colored sofa so badly! I love the kind of tonal stripe effect this sofa has. A+

I can't stop swooning over this armchair! The fabric is so adorable, and I love the pastel colors. I'll take two!

Now that you've seen the armchair fabric, I thought I'd share my choice of decorative pillows!

Quaint little ottoman for the two armchairs.

Add in a couple of accent tables and pretty flower vases.

Sweet trunk as a coffee table.

And a pretty peacock tray to set on top.

Table and floor lamps to add some ambient lighting.

Decorative candle holders and book ends for the mantle. ;o)  And book boxes...just because I've always wanted one!

This was, by far, one of the coolest things I found. It's curled wood! How cool is that?! Can you image a group of three hanging at different heights in the corner? Yay!

Some decorative art for the walls.

And a pretty area rug for the floor. I know there's a few things I left out, like a tv stand for example, but those are minor details. Haha! The important thing is that everything looks pretty!

Hope you enjoyed! Ttfn.
